Abstract
26 hepatic resections were performed at the department of surgery, St. Mary¢¥s Hospital from Feb. 1982. to Aug. 1988., which were divided with Rt. lobectomy, Lt. lobectomy Rt. Trisegmentectomy and Lt. lateral segmentectomy.
They were clinically analysed and results were as follows
1) The male to female ratio was 4.2: 1. The age distribution indicated a prominent incidence in 6th decade.
2) The indications were hepatocellular ca. (13 case, 50%), hemangioma(3, 12%), metastatic stomach ca. (3, 12%), intrahepaic stone (2, 8%) and trauma (2, 8%).
3) Among hepatic resections, Rt. lobectomy was performed most frequently (54%) and the others were Lt. lateral segmentectomy (34%) , Lt. lobectomy (8%) , Rt. trisegmentectomy ( 9 %) .
4) Liver cirrhosis was associated in 7 cases of 13 hepatocellular ca. (54% ).
5) Post-operative complications were noted in 16 cases and pleural effusion was the ost common(42%) and the other complications were wound infection (19% ), ascites(12% ), hepatic coma (12% ), bleeding (8%) and bile leakage (8%) .
6) Overall hospital mortality rate was 15% and the causes of death were hepatic f lure (2 case), hepatorenal syndrome (1 case) and stress ulcer bleeding (1 case).
